Muncie, IN – If the MAC had a “must-watch” team during the 2024–25 season, it was Ball State. The Cardinals’ uptempo offense ranked first in the conference in possessions per game and second in scoring at 82.4 points per contest.
Sophomore guard Terrence “T.J.” Walker became a breakout star, averaging 21.1 PPG while showcasing elite shot creation. Paired with senior floor general Malik Sanders, Ball State’s backcourt torched defenses in transition but struggled to close out tight contests, finishing 17–14 and missing the NCAA Tournament bubble.
Coach Michael Lewis has doubled down on pace for 2025–26, recruiting sharpshooter Jace Matthews from Texas and athletic wing Kendrick Howard from Florida JUCO power Gulf Coast State. With Walker entering his junior year and Sanders returning for a graduate season, Ball State could set the offensive tone for the entire MAC—and if the defense improves, they might have Final Four weekend ambitions in Cleveland.
